11 Lovely Lunch Venues for Mother’s Day Sorted!

The countdown is on to Mother’s Day on Sunday March 26 and if you haven’t organised anything yet, allow me to me lend a hand — lest you end up in Burger King. I’ve pulled together a selection of 11 fab places across the county for a laid-back brunch or Sunday lunch guaranteed to keep you in her good books (no cooking or washing up required!).

The Bell in Alderminster

This award-wining gastropub in the centre of picturesque Alderminster, close to Stratford-upon-Avon, is part of the historic Alscot Estate. It has 4 AA Gold Stars and AA Rosette. On Mothering Sunday diners can enjoy lunch off the a la carte menu so there’s plenty of choice… roast Warwickshire Beef, Pork or Chicken or specials such as Roast Cod Fillet with Persillade New Potatoes, Curly Kale and Salsa Verde, followed by Passion Fruit Soufflé or Warm Chocolate Brownie, to name just a few!

Mother’s Day Brunch, Delish Kitchen, Rugby

A fab café in the heart of Rugby’s independent quarter run by 28-year-old hipster Thomas Adkins, a talented cook and artist. Both the restaurant and menu have undergone a revamp for 2017 with a bigger range of healthier, vegan and gluten free options.  And it’s now open for Saturday and Sunday brunch.  Funky mum’s will love the quirky Delish decor and fresh home-made dishes from the Delish Full English or Small Breakfast, to the varied veggie options, Avocado Smash or Delish beans on toast. We brought Mr Muddy here for a fantastic Father’s Day brunch so have my fingers crossed he’ll return the favour next weekend!

Baraset Barn, Alveston

A beautiful 200-year-old converted barn in the tranquil rural village of Alveston, outside Stratford-upon-Avon with the original flagstones, an on-view glass-fronted kitchen and two separate dining areas upstairs. Granite, pewter and oak are used to dramatic effect within the restaurant and if the sun is shining you can dine alfresco on the outside decking. A three-course Mother’s Day lunch  is £29.95 per person, and £12.95 for children up to 10-years-old (roast & a pud).

Restaurant 23 & Morgan’s Bar, Leamington Spa

Creative modern British cuisine and cocktails in an elegant dining room with high-ceilings and relaxed lounge bar inside one of Leamington’s gorgeous Georgian properties. You can enjoy a relaxed fine dining experience on March 26 – choose either a Mother’s Day lunch in the restaurant or a more laid-back brunch in Morgan’s Bar.  Lunch is £37 for two or £45 for 3 courses with an extra treat for the mums on the day. Starters include salmon avocado, dill and buttermilk, Beetroot with Lovage & Quinoa, Rabbit or Pigeon. Mains served with roast potatoes and veg include Pollock Brill, beef, pork loin or Roscoff Onion. Plus, a range of desserts and artisan cheeses. Brunch is £20 for two courses with unlimited cafetiere and tea, Snacks, Eggs, Savouries and Sweets.

The Arden Hotel, Waterside, Stratford-upon-Avon

Directly opposite the Royal Shakespeare Theatres and overlooking the River Avon, is The Arden Hotel which offers a top notch culinary experience in stylish surroundings. Mallory Court Country Hotel and Spa, Leamington Spa

Treat your mum to a 3-course meal and coffee in the Main House at Leamington Spa for £45 per person. The Dining Room at Mallory Court is a beautiful, oak panelled restaurant, boasting several accolades and awards for its refined cuisine, including 3 AA Rosettes. The head chef and his team firmly believe in using what they have on their doorstep and take great pride and pleasure in using the organically grown, seasonal produce grown from the hotel grounds. Enjoy a delicious 3-course Mother’s Day menu  (£24.95 per person) at this 400-year-old Grade II listed boutique hotel opposite Shakespeare’s  school in the centre of Stratford. Kings Hotel, Chipping Campden, Cotswolds

If you’re fancying taking your mum out for a day out in the Cotswolds how about a traditional Sunday lunch with a special treat for mothers at this attractively renovated golden Cotswold stone boutique hotel (£23.50 per person).
